Beautiful Monsters is a dramatic fusion of music, storytelling and art by The Ottawa Baroque Consort with David Brennan.

The show is a companion concert to the Gallery's special exhibition Beautiful Monsters in Early European Prints and Drawings (1450-1700).

Storyteller David Brennan breathes life into the fantastic creatures depicted in the works of art of the exhibition. A full Baroque orchestra on stage coordinates tightly with the storyteller, with large-scale images of the artwork projected on a giant screen behind the orchestra.

Presented by the Ottawa Baroque Consort in collaboration with the National Gallery of Canada.

We highly recommend a visit to the Beautiful Monsters art exhibition at the gallery. The works are striking, and the history behind them, captivating. A great day to visit is Thursday, January 23rd, two days before the concert. Senior curator Sonia Del Re will give free guided tours of the exhibition in English at 6pm and in French at 7pm.
