Musically Insulting is a raucous rant through musical history. Musical opinion of the 17th and 18th centuries was often quite contradictory. Many treatises were written during this time period, famous ones being by Mozart's father Leopold, and Bach's son C.P.E Bach. These treatises not only explained how to play musical instruments correctly and in the proper style, but they often served as platforms for the author's own opinions about the material as well. These opinions differed widely and were often quite strongly opposed. In this concert we present excepts from this literature that range from innocuous to scathing. The program is infused with a good dose of humour, live demonstrations by the on-stage musicians, and full-length pieces as well. This will be a lively performance that delivers some serious history while making you laugh!
